Craft Tutorial: Beaded Hair Scrunchies

First of all, my hearty apologies to my dear readers for not posting much these days. I was head-banging a thick, cold blogging wall – although I was happily creating something pretty much everyday, when I questioned myself if they were blog-worthy or not, sadly the answers always seemed to be ‘no’. I’m still head-banging the wall, but hey, here I am with a bloody forehead :)
Let’s move on to my darling new hair scrunchies, shall we? I love both making and wearing hair scrunchies, and since my hair is now long enough to actually wear one, I decided to make new versions (you can find other scrunchie posts here and here). They are both pretty straightforward to make, and I think they would be a cute little present for Mother’s Day, too.
[Beaded Scrunchies]

You’ll need:

- scrunchie (for how to make a scrunchie, please read this post)
- 12 beads
- 12 headpins
- 4 jumprings (I used 1 x 10mm, 3 x 5mm)
- a pair of flat-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and wire cutters
Instructions:

1) For this project, the headpins form ‘double loops’ instead of single loop (double loops are quicker to make than wrapped loops, and are equally strong). Thread a bead to a headpin, and bend it at a 90 degrees angle. Leaving about 1.6cm, snip off the excess headpin with the wire cutters.
2) Grasp the end of the headpin with the round-nose pliers, then twist it in a circular motion until the end of the headpin forms a small loop. Regrip the loop and continue bending the wire until you have two loops. Repeat the steps to all 12 headpins to set all beads.

3) Connect 4 beads per jumpring.
4) Place the scrunchie in the bigger jumpring.

5) Thread all the jumprings (step 3) to the jumpring (step 4), and you’re done!
[Scrunchies with Charms]

You’ll need:

- scrunchie (for how to make a scrunchie, please read this post)
- charms, as much as you like
- jumprings and headpins
- chains, 1 for each charm
- clasp, 1 for each charm
- a pair of flat-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and wire cutters
Instructions:

1) Connect the charms and clasps to the chain. And…yap, you’re done already! Too easy for you? Make some more :)

I love how they turned out, and I can see myself wearing these till they fall apart! But you know what, I’m already thinking about new versions of scrunchies… Watch. This. Space.

OMG WOW!
