Catcher in the Rye

Catcher in the Rye 1

Yeah, right, sorry about the title, because today’s post has nothing to do with the greatest story of all time. So, why the title? My hubby and I went to Rye, a beautiful town in East Sussex for a day trip, and I caught a cold there… And I just couldn’t help it. Sorry (and I mean it)! Anyway, if you are not too mad with me, I’d like to share some of the photos I’ve taken there.

I’ve read on a magazine that Rye was one of the prettiest towns in England, and it truly was! The town is full of old buildings (one of which is Mermaid Inn, a 600 years old building!), and there are loads of antique stores. Quality!

Then we moved to New Romney, a tiny town in Kent, to ride the one and only Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. It’s the smallest public railway in the world!

The rail tracks are very small as well, of course.

It’s quite comfy inside. Well, if you are not too tall, that is. I was amazed to know that the train is not only a tourist attraction, but is still used for transporting local school children. How cool is that to be able to go to school everyday on this cutie?!

Good-bye land of beauty! Hope we’ll visit again!
